Claflin re-instated baseball for the 1998 season. Herm Winningham was named head coach in December 1997, but resigned in March after only 4 games of the first season began to become a coach for the Charleston River Dogs.

Claflin joined Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 2018-2019, but the conference does not formally sponsor the sport with only 5 member schools participating.
