Biographical Information

Chuujiro Endo dropped out of college to play baseball with the Dai Tokyo club in the first year of the Japanese Professional Baseball League, 1936. He went 0-5 with a 4.38 ERA in the spring '36 season (tying Herbert North for the loss lead) and improved to 4-5, 3.03 in the fall despite 65 walks in 85 2/3 innings. He hit .203/.311/.266, playing occasionally in the field. In the spring of 1937, Chuujiro had a 4-5, 4.29 record and hit .226/.351/.258. In the fall of 1937, he was 0-2 with a 5.54 ERA and walked 20 in 25 1/3 innings. Used primarily in the field, he batted .205/.320/.261.

In the spring of 1938, Endo ended with a 1-3, 4.37 record and hit .250/.314/.344. In the fall of 1938, he had a 13.50 ERA, allowed 13 hits in 5 1/3 innings and lost decisions in both of his games. As a hitter, he put up a .242/.315/.409 line. In the 1939 season, Endo went 2 for 13 with three walks at the plate and did not play the field.

His career pitching record was 9-22, 4.22 while he hit .221/.317/.315.

Endo was killed in combat during World War II.
