Biographical Information[edit]

Chuck Balogh played in the minor leagues from 1946 to 1952 and again in 1956. He hit .271 with 868 hits in 834 games over eight seasons.

He served in the Marines during World War II. He debuted in 1946, appearing for the Quebec Alouettes (.267/~.389/.330, 17 SB in 55 G) and Hagerstown Suns (.182/~.264/.231 in 48 G). Perhaps his best season was 1947, when he hit .338 with 158 hits and a .409 slugging percentage in 110 games split between the Clinton Cubs and Fayetteville Cubs; he also appeared briefly for the Davenport Cubs (statistics unavailable). He was among the Central Association leaders in average. He split 1948 between the Decatur Commodores (.279/?/.336 in 116 G) and Des Moines Bruins (8 for 38, 2B). He slumped to .205/?/.237 for Des Moines in 1949. He then began a three-year run with the Macon Peaches. In 1950, he hit .252/.327/.311 with 86 runs. The next year, he he hit .288 with 162 hits, 26 doubles and 204 total bases in 138 games for the Macon Peaches. He was third in the South Atlantic League in hits behind Rance Pless and Dick Smith and tied for 10th in doubles. He produced at a .266/.330/.311 clip in 1952 with 19 steals and 81 runs. He tied for 3rd in the SAL in swipes while leading the league's shortstops in assists (539) and double plays (115). He was 4 for 24 for the 1956 Johnstown Johnnies to end his career.
