Biographical Information[edit]
Chris Michalak was the first Toronto Blue Jays pitcher to hit a triple. It came on June 17, 2001 off the Montreal Expos' Tony Armas Jr.. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he was 1-0 with a 5.23 ERA for Team USA, getting the win over Josue Matos and Puerto Rico.
His cousin is former big leaguer Mark Grant. He was released or granted free agency 16 times over his career.
He was the pitching coach of the Hagerstown Suns in 2010-2011, Potomac Nationals in 2012-2013 and Harrisburg Senators in 2014-2017. In 2018, he became the minor league pitching coordinator for the Miami Marlins. Michalak moved to the Colorado Rockies' organization as pitching coach of the Albuquerque Isotopes in 2023-2024.
