Biographical Information[edit]
Chris Knapp had one career save in the majors. It came May 28, 1980, while a member of the California Angels against the Texas Rangers. He never actually got an out in the game. He gave up a run-scoring single to Jim Sundberg and then Billy Sample was caught stealing third base to end the game. Stan Cliburn was the catcher on the caught stealing, the Angels winning, 7-6.
Knapp won 26 games for the Chicago White Sox and Angels in 1977 and 1978, but quickly faded and was out of the majors at age 27. He went 12-7 for the White Sox the first year, and followed that by going 14-8 for the Angels the next season.
