Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman/designated hitter Chris Garcia spent seven years in professional baseball and, despite hitting .304 in the affiliated minors, never advanced beyond High-A.

He was originally taken by the Boston Red Sox in the 44th round of the 2005 amateur draft, a couple picks after infielder Chase d'Arnaud, but opted not to sign. He did sign after being taken by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 15th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Tom Kotchman and began his professional career that year.

In his first season, split between the AZL Angels and Orem Owlz, Garcia batted .303/.426/.452 with 27 hits in 43 games; he then batted .366/.459/.493 with 49 hits in 40 games between the same clubs in 2008. He moved to independent ball for 2009, batting .310 with 5 home runs, 53 RBI and 114 hits in 83 games between the New Jersey Jackals (6 G) and Shreveport-Bossier Captains (77 G). He returned to Shreveport-Bossier in 2009 to hit .383/.490/.597 with 14 home runs, 90 RBI, 134 hits and 76 walks (to 54 strikeouts) in 94 games. He was a league All-Star that season, leading the league in on-base percentage. His performance prompted the Atlanta Braves to sign him for 2011 and he did not disappoint, hitting .305/.405/.512 with 16 home runs and 67 RBI in 97 games for the Rome Braves. With the Lynchburg Hillcats in 2012, Garcia batted .285/.408/.431 with 11 home runs and 59 RBI in 125 games to earn Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star honors. The Hillcats placed him on the disabled list in April 2013 and released him that July. The New York Mets signed him in February 2014, but released him in March. After not playing in 2013 or 2014, he played briefly in indy ball in 2015, hitting .179 in 28 at-bats to wrap up his career.

Including the limited time he spent in the Puerto Rican Winter League, Garcia hit .324 with 51 home runs and 324 RBI in 525 games over 7 seasons.
