Forbes was assistant coach at Baker University (1996-1999), Johnson County Community College (2000-2001) and the University of Northern Colorado (2002-2005). He scouted for the Oakland Athletics (1997-1999), Kansas City Royals (2002), Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres. He has overcome non-Hodgkins lymphoma and Leukemia. He signed Thomas Field and Joey Wong.
