Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Chris Beck began playing in the Chicago White Sox minor league system in 2012. He was taken by the club in the 2nd round of the 2012 amateur draft, after initially being drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 35th round of the 2009 amateur draft. The signing scout was Kevin Burrell and his signing bonus was $600,000. In his first pro season, Beck went 4-3 with a 4.69 ERA in 15 games (6 starts) for the Great Falls Voyagers. He was 13-10 with a 3.07 ERA in 26 starts between the Winston-Salem Dash and Birmingham Barons in 2013 and was named to the Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star team. He was named the White Sox 6th best prospect entering the 2014 season by MLB.com.

Beck was called up to start the second game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on May 28, 2015, a doubleheader caused when rioting in Baltimore upended a three-game series between the two teams earlier in the month. He gave up 4 runs on 10 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings to be charged with a 6-3 loss. Chris ultimately spent parts of four seasons in the bigs, moving to the New York Mets on waivers in the summer of 2018.
