Biographical Information

Chip Gosewisch caught for Arizona State and in the minors. His brother Tuffy Gosewisch followed in the same roles.

Chip hit .324 as a freshman at ASU in 1996, playing regularly at second base. He improved to .348 the next year, while alternating between catcher and 2B. He was the backup shortstop on an ASU team that made it to the finals of the 1998 College World Series, hitting .319. In 1999, the senior hit .350 with 15 doubles. The Anaheim Angels took him in the 30th round of the 1999 amateur draft, one round before they took infield mate Kevin Tillman.

Gosewisch was initially assigned to the Butte Copper Kings. He batted .246/.287/.329 his first summer while allowing 76 steals in 86 tries. The next year, Chip fell to .203/.269/.277 with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. He was used as a utility man, with games in the outfield (20), second base (16), third base (8), pitcher (2) and catcher (1).

He later worked as an athletic trainer.
