Ching-Long Yang has had a varied career in baseball, as a player, coach, manager and announcer.
Yang played as a first baseman for the Taiwan national team in the 1982 Amateur World Series, 1984 Olympics, 1985 Intercontinental Cup and 1987 World Port Tournament. He had been recruited by the Chicago White Sox back in 1979 but military obligations prevented him from signing with them; he would spend time with the Air Force's baseball team.
Yang later coached for Taiwan in the 1994 Baseball World Cup, 1994 Asian Games, 1995 Asian Championship, 2002 Asian Games and 2002 Intercontinental Cup. He coached for both the National Sports Institute and Chinese Cultural University as well as the Taichung Agan and Macoto Gida. He managed Taichung to a 46-73-4 in addition. He has done baseball commentary on television.
