Biographical Information[edit]

Ching-Hao Tsai pitched in the CPBL for 6 years.

Tsai pitched for Taiwan in the 2004 World Junior Championship. He was a first-round pick of the Uni-President Lions in the 2009 CPBL Draft. He made his CPBL debut in 2011, tossing a shutout against the Brother Elephants on May 12. He was the 10th CPBL hurler (and 4th Taiwan native) to pitch a shutout in his debut. For the year, he had a 5-3, 5.28 record. Tsai was also selected into the 2011 CPBL All-Star Game as a rookie, and he pitched 3 innings with a run allowed. The Hsinchu native was 1-3 with a 3.79 ERA, and he pitched 2 innings in the 2012 Taiwan Series Game 4 with a run allowed. The Lions lost to the Lamigo Monkeys in 5 games. Tsai's ERA rose to 10.57 in 2013, but he pitched well in the minor league. He was 7-1 with a 2.00 ERA, and led the league in wins and ERA there. The Lions then traded him to the Monkeys for Chia-Wei Lin. Tsai only played 16 games in his 2-year Monkeys career, and he announced his retirement after the 2016 season.

Tsai throws a fastball (peak around 94 mph), forkball, curveball, cutter and changeup.

Overall, Tsai was 7-11 with a 6.48 ERA, struck out 128 and pitched 186 innings in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
