Biographical Information[edit]
Chico Vaughns is a former minor league baseball outfielder who played from 1966-1974, twice hitting over .300 at AAA and peaking at 18 home runs. He is perhaps best remembered for being involved in a trade that took place on February 8, 1972 between the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers. The Phillies sent Bobby Pfeil to the to the Brewers for a player to be named later. That player to be named later would end up being Chico Vaughns.
Vaughns was drafted in the 7th round of the 1966 amateur draft by the Kansas City A's. He played in the farm systems of the A's (1966-1968), Brewers (1968-1972), Phillies (1972-1973), and Brewers again (1974). He also spent some time in the Mexican League in 1974.
His professional career came to an end after he suffered an injury in a surfboarding accident in Hawaii. [1]
