Biographical Information[edit]

Chi-Cheng Chiu pitched in the CPBL for 5 years.

Chiu represented Taiwan in the 1985 World Junior Championship, 1986 World Junior Championship, 1987 World Junior Championship, 1988 Haarlemse Honkbalweek and 1990 Haarlemse Honkbalweek. The China Times Eagles signed him when they were founded in 1993, and he had a 8.19 ERA in 15 games. He only pitched 3 games in 1994, and he had a 7.56 ERA in 11 games in 1995. Chiu improved to a 4.03 ERA in 19 games in 1996, and his ERA was 4.23 in 13 games in 1997. He was involved in a game-fixing scandal after this season, and he was banned for life.

Overall, Chiu was 0-7 with a 6.06 ERA, struck out 44 and pitched 127 2/3 innings in 5 seasons in the CPBL. He pitched 61 games without any wins in his career, and he held the CPBL record for most appearances and innings pitched for a pitcher who didn't win any game.
