"Good ballplayers make good citizens". - Chester Arthur

Chester Arthur was the twenty-first President of the United States, serving from September 19, 1881 through March 4, 1885.

He is remembered as the first President to invite a baseball team to the White House, something he did in 1883, at which time he uttered the above quote.

Three major leaguers were given the first and middle names "Chester Arthur": Ches Crist, Chet Spencer, and Chester Emerson. Negro Leaguer Chet Brewer was also given "Chester Arthur" as his first and middle names.
