Biographical Information[edit]
Chuck Emerson was in seven games with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1911, a team that won the World Series that year, and one game with them in 1912. He did not appear in the 1911 World Series. He also played a few years in the minors, mostly with the Harrisburg Senators.
In the game of September 28, 1911, he batted second in the batting order, in front of Eddie Collins and Frank Baker, and went 1-for-3 with a walk.
He had been at Dartmouth College during 1908-1911.
"His batting, especially against left-handed pitchers, is little short of unique. His throwing arm is strong and he fields a ball very rapidly. . . he does not dissipate. . . he has no bad habits. The youngster worked his way through college, did not fall for any of the temptations and now he is in base ball for money." - Sporting Life, September 30, 1911, quoting the Baltimore Sun
