Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Charlie Wagner of the Boston Red Sox missed three seasons due to military service during World War II. He entered the Navy in November 1942 and was discharged in November 1945. From 1950 to 1969, he was a Red Sox scout. He later was a coach for the Red Sox in 1970. Until his death, he was a consultant. In total, he spent 73 years with the Red Sox organization.
Wagner died in 2006 after suffering a heart attack in his car following a Reading Phillies game.
Wagner's main teammates included Ted Williams (1354), Dom DiMaggio (693), Bobby Doerr (609), Joe Cronin (474), Jimmie Foxx (466) and Tex Hughson (424).
