Biographical Information[edit]
Charlie Malay had 349 at-bats in his only season in the big leagues. He played second base on a team that hit bottom in 1905, losing 104 games after being in decline each year since 1899 when the Brooklyn Superbas team won 101 games.
Malay did not play with Brooklyn in 1906, being replaced by Whitey Alperman who hit .252, exactly the same as Malay had hit in 1905.
He played in the minors for over a decade, mostly for teams in New York or New Jersey. In 1906 he sued the Newark team for back salary which he said was due him when he was unable to play due to an injury.
