Biographical Information[edit]
Charlie Caldwell pitched three times with the New York Yankees in 1925, being bombarded for 6 runs (5 earned) in 2 2/3 innings for a career ERA of 16.88. He saw greater success in coaching, serving as baseball coach at Williams College in 1931-1944 and Princeton in 1945-1946. He was also the football coach at Williams College from 1928 to 1942 and at Princeton from 1945 to 1957. Princeton awards the Charles W. Caldwell Memorial Trophy every year to "that senior member of the varsity football squad who has shown the greatest improvement during his years at Princeton."
