Biographical Information[edit]
"Chappie" Snodgrass played three games in the major leagues at the age of 31 in 1901. His team was the Baltimore Orioles in the new major league American League. On May 15th, manager John McGraw put Snodgrass into the third spot of the lineup, and Snodgrass reponded with his only major league hit, a single in the 8th inning which scored the lead-off hitter McGraw.
There is a store in Montreal named "Mortimer Snodgrass". The first name was the name of the owners' dog, while the last name was in honor of Chappie Snodgrass. Mortimer Snodgrass store.
