Pitcher Chad Ricketts was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round of the 1995 amateur draft. In 1998, he had his best season, going 2-1 with a 1.84 ERA and 19 saves for the Daytona Cubs, while also seeing action with the AA West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. Following the 1999 season, he was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a five-player trade, and two years later, he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. He played for Canada in the 1999 Pan American Games. He ended his career with two seasons in the independent Atlantic League. He pitched one game for Canada in the 2003 Baseball World Cup and retired four of five against the then-dominant Cuban national team (walking one) as a bright spot in a 8-0 loss; he pitched between Sean Jones and Danny Prata.
