Biographical Information[edit]

Chad Jenkins was the 20th pick overall in the first round of the 2009 Amateur Draft, selected by the Toronto Blue Jays.

His freshman year, Jenkins had a 2-3, 4.02 record with one save. Chad won 5 games and had a 5-5 record and 3.96 ERA as a sophomore at Kennesaw State University. He was 7th in the Atlantic Sun Conference in ERA and tied for second with 78 strikeouts.

He won the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year award as a junior, with an 8-1 record and an ERA of 2.54. He led the Conference in wins and ERA and had a 41-inning scoreless inning streak at one point.

He studied accounting at school.

Jenkins was signed by scout Matt Briggs for $1.359 million and made his pro debut with the Lansing Lugnuts in 2010.

On August 10, 2014, he was the winner in the longest game in Blue Jays history in terms both of time and innings. He pitched the last 6 innings of a 6-5 win over the Detroit Tigers that took 6 hours and 37 minutes and 19 innings to play out. On September 4th, he was the victim of a freak accident during batting practice, as he was hit by a batted ball while shagging flies in the outfield, breaking his pitching hand and ending his season. He was 1-1, 2.56 in 21 appearances and had been one of the more reliable elements out the Jays' bullpen in the second half of the season.
