Biographical Information

The Cleveland Indians drafted Casey Opitz in the 27th round of the 2017 amateur draft but he chose to attend college instead. He was a catcher at the University of Arkansas from 2018-2021. During his final year the Razorbacks spent most of the season ranked No. 1 in the nation. Opitz was drafted a second time in the 2021 amateur draft by the Chicago Cubs in the 8th round. He spent the 2021 season in their minor league system, mostly with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Casey's older brothers Jake Opitz and Shane Opitz also played professionally.
