Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos De Avila pitched in the minors and for the Colombian national team.

He was 4-2 with a save and a 2.10 ERA in 22 games for the 2018 DSL Dodgers Robinson, as the team's most-used hurler. He split 2019 between the DSL Dodgers Shoemaker (14 R, 9 ER in 13 IP; Sv) and DSL Dodgers Bautista (3-1, 2 Sv, 4 R, 1 ER in 32 1/3 IP) for a weird split in the same league. He was 7-3 with 4 saves and a 2.03 ERA in 45 games in the Dodgers chain, walking only 14 in 79 2/3 IP. After the 2020 minor league season was canceled by COVID-19, he was let go by LA. [1]

De Avila was 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA when Colombia won Bronze in the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup, beating Cuba. [2] He made two appearances when Colombia won Silver in the 2022 Bolivarian Games. He relieved Sergio Palacio with one out in the second, a 6-0 deficit against the Dominican national team and one aboard. He allowed the inherited runner to score but otherwise stopped the bleeding (2 UER in 3 1/3 IP) before giving way to Carlos Diaz. He started their last game but was roughed up in a loss to Venezuela, giving up five hits and three runs in two innings; Palacio took over. [3]
