Carlos Arrieche played his fourth season in professional baseball in 2006.
Arrieche starred for Venezuela in the 2001 World Youth Championship, hitting .429 and slugging .667 in the round-robin part of the competition. He scored 8 runs and drove in 4 in the 5 games. He made the All-Tournament team as the sole Venezuelan, even though his team won the Silver Medal, finishing only behind the USA.
Arrieche was signed by the Oakland Athletics on November 28, 2002. He debuted professionally in 2003 with the DSL Athletics I and hit .165/.185/.177. In 2004, Arrieche batted .258/.330/.290 in 59 games for the DSL Athletics II. The next year, he was on the same club and hit .226/.365/.317 in 62 contests.
In 2006, Carlos made it to the USA with the AZL Athletics, where his batting line was .251/.355/.311.
