Carlos Alvarez (Panama)
Carlos (Capi) Álvarez was a member of the first Panamanian national team. In their first game, he hit 6th and played left field, going 3 for 7 with 3 runs in a 25-0 romp of fellow newcomer El Salvador in the 1930 Central American Games. He was 0 for 13 with a steal and three runs in their next five games, though, to finish at .150. His six runs did tie for second on Panama, behind Ramón Ruiz, and Panama won the Bronze Medal. Carlos did field well, leading all outfielders in the Games with 12 putouts, tying for the lead with one assist and making no errors. He was back with Panama in the 1935 Central American and Caribbean Games, when they split the Silver Medal with Nicaragua, as well as when they won Silver outright in the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games. He then managed them in the 1944 Amateur World Series.
