Biographical Information[edit]
Carl Ray threw four minor league no-hitters, one each season from 1913-1916. The first three no-hitters occurred in the Class-D North Carolina State League. Pitching for the Winston-Salem Twins, he no-hit the Durham Bulls on April 28, 1913, and the Charlotte Hornets on May 14, 1914. With the Greensboro Patriots in 1915 he no-hit the Raleigh Capitals on August 12. His final no-hitter was thrown for the Newport News Shipbuilders in the Class-C Virginia League against the Norfolk Tars on September 2, 1916.
