Carl Randle was a minor league pitcher for five years.

The Texas Rangers took Randle in the 17th round of the 1988 amateur draft, one pick before Kenny Lofton. Randle was 4-2 with a 6.25 ERA for the Butte Copper Kings with 55 walks in 44 2/3 IP. He was third in the Pioneer League in walks (behind Scott Ebert and Angel Miranda) and 4th with 9 balks. He split 1989 between the GCL Rangers (5-2, 1.72, 76 K in 68 IP) and Gastonia Rangers (1-2, Sv, 3.55). He tied for 10th in the Gulf Coast League in wins, ranked 9th in ERA (between Mike Arner and Tim Cecil) and was third in strikeouts (behind Sterling Hitchcock and Kevin Rychel). With Gastonia in 1990, he posted a 8-9, 4.19 record with 113 hits but 105 walks in 148 1/3 IP. He led the South Atlantic League in walks (10 more than runner-up Ricky Rhodes) and tied for third with 13 hit batsmen. He led Ranger farmhands in hit batters and was second to Roger Pavlik in walks but was also sixth in strikeouts. On May 19, he threw a no-hitter against the Greensboro Hornets.

In 1991, the right-hander fell to 3-8 despite a 3.89 ERA for the Port Charlotte Rangers. His 14 hit batters led the Florida State League, 3 more than runner-up Mark Hutton. Away from baseball apparently in 1992-1993, he returned in 1994 to go 2-7 with a 4.09 ERA for the independent Lafayette Leopards. He led the Great Central League in losses. He finished his career with a composite record of 23-30, 3.89 with a save in 127 games (66 starts). In 480 2/3 IP, he allowed 392 hits and issued 306 walks and 41 hit batsmen.
