Biographical Information[edit]
Carl Manda posted a .389 on-base percentage in 9 games he played for the Chicago White Sox in the middle of September 1914, but it wasn't enough to win him a permanent job at second base. Regular second baseman Lena Blackburne hit only .222, but the following year the White Sox went with Eddie Collins at second.
At the time of his death at age 96 in 1983, Manda was the Oldest Living MLB Player.
In 1917 with Memphis he was a teammate of both Dazzy Vance and Waite Hoyt. Manda's minor league career started in 1909 and ended in 1922.
