Biographical Information[edit]

Carey Paige played in the minor leagues from 1992 to 1995 and from 1997 to 1998. He was taken by the Atlanta Braves in the 3rd round of the 1992 amateur draft, one pick ahead of pitcher David Manning.

He went 2-7 26 games (20 starts) over his first two campaigns, then had a career year in 1994 by going 10-8 with a 2.34 ERA in 25 starts between the Macon Braves and Durham Bulls. In 134 1/3 innings, he had 144 strikeouts. He slipped to 6-7, 4.02 in 1995. In the 1995 Rule V Draft, he was taken by the Toronto Blue Jays with the third selection, but missed all of 1996 due to a shoulder injury. After a year away, he returned with a 3.02 ERA in 44 2/3 innings for the Dunedin Blue Jays. He wrapped up his career in 1998 with the independent Bridgeport Bluefish, going 5-3, 3.66 in 18 games (11 starts).

On July 21, 1993, while pitching for the Danville Braves, he started a combined no-hitter against the Bristol Tigers. He was relieved by William Havens, who was relieved by Matt Byrd, en route to a 4-0 victory.

Overall, Paige went 24-28 with a 3.39 ERA in 98 games (82 starts). In 457 innings, he allowed 402 hits and 178 walks (1.269 WHIP), while striking out 408 batters.
