Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Cameron Perkins began his professional career in 2012.
He was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 43rd round of the 2009 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the sixth round of the 2012 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Nick Goody, and signed. The signing scout was Nate Dion.
He hit .304/.352/.407 in 67 games for the Williamsport Crosscutters his first year, but a rough, brief stint with the the GCL Phillies (.158/.150/.158 in 19 AB) brought his season slash line down to .294/.339/.391. He hit .299/.351/.457 with seven home runs and 54 RBI in 105 games between the GCL Phillies and Clearwater Threshers in 2013, earning a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star selection. In 2014, he hit .271/.326/.384 with five home runs and 51 RBI in 126 games between the Reading Phillies and the Triple-A LeHigh Valley IronPigs. In his first taste of Triple-A, he hit .216/.259/.298 in 74 games. He began 2015 with Reading and made the Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star team.
He was called up to Philadelphia on May 20, 2017 when the Phillies released veteran OF Michael Saunders. He made his debut that day, flying out as a pinch-hitter for Pat Neshek in the 10th inning of a game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
