Biographical Information[edit]

Cam Opp has pitched in the minors and for the British national team.

Opp was born in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and moved to London, England when he was 10. [1] To try to develop his baseball career, he moved 4,040 miles from his family for a boarding school in the US his last two years in high school. [2] He was 19-1 those two years. [3] He enrolled in the United States Military Academy and was 1-1 with a 4.86 ERA as a freshman. [4]

As a sophomore, he fell to 4-2, 6.18 but rebounded to 5-2 with four saves and a 2.66 ERA as a junior, closing out Army's title game win over Navy. [5] He was 5-1 with five saves and a 3.65 ERA his senior year. He won the Senior Class Award for his community involvement, educational and athletic achievements and character. [6] He signed with the independent Evansville Otters, going 4-2 with two saves and a 2.70 ERA that summer, fanning 35 in 26 2/3 IP. The 2020 season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic but the New York Mets were impressed enough to sign him that winter.

In 2021, he pitched for the Brooklyn Cyclones (1-9, 7.69) and St. Lucie Mets (2-0, 0.79 in 3 G). He tied Alec Kisena and Kaleb Roper for the most losses in the High-A East League and tied for second in the Mets chain, two behind Kisena. He split 2022 between Brooklyn (1-3, Sv, 5.23 in 16 G) and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (6 R in 6 2/3 IP) in a more familiar relief role. He then joined Great Britain for the 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. [7]
