Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Cade Gotta began his professional career in 2014, after having been drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 26th round of the 2014 Amateur Draft. He played in the Rays system until the end of the 2017 season, reaching AAA during that span. A high average hitter with limited power, he hit .290 in 42 games for the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2015, .306 in 46 games for the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League in 2016, and .282 in 94 games for the Montgomery Biscuits of the Southern League in 2017. He reached AAA by playing 27 games for the Durham Bulls of the International League at the end of that season, hitting .267. He was a mid-season All-Star all three years and a Southern League post-season All-Star in 2016. He also showed good speed, with a total of 40 stolen bases in 2017.

In spite of that steady progression, the Rays released him at the end of spring training in 2018, and on April 1st he was signed as a free agent by the Miami Marlins. He played 44 games for the AA Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, hitting .254 but he was released at the end of June. He then moved on to the Mexican League, finishing the year with the Acereros de Monclova, for whom he batted .306 in 56 games. In between the various stops, he once again stole 40 bases. He was back with Monclova in 2019, batting .313 in 45 games and also played briefly for the Long Island Ducks in the independent Atlantic League. After being forced to sit out the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was back in the indy leagues in 2021, this time with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association, where he hit .327 in 69 games. That winter, he played for the Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan League and made it to the 2022 Caribbean Series after being the regular season MVP and the MVP of the Finals against the Caribes de Anzoátegui.

Starting in 2022, he played three straight seasons for the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in the Mexican League, hitting over .300 in 2022 and 2024, and .269 in 2023. During the 2023 season, he was suspended for three games and fined for the league for an assault on his team's official scorer. He also continued to be active in winter ball, playing in the Dominican League, Nicaraguan League and Venezuelan League.
