Biographical Information[edit]
Cédric Fermond was the youngest player on the French national team in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, two years younger than the next-youngest, Francois Moufflet. His first appearance was good; he relieved Étienne Coste with a 11-1 deficit in the 6th against the USSR. He went 1-2-3 against Ilya Bogatyrev, Sacha Krupenchekov and Serhii Korolov, ending with a strikeout. Victor Martins then took over. His next game, he replaced Coste to wrap up a 13-3 loss to Nicaragua, giving up six hits and five runs (three earned) in one inning. His last game came against champion Cuba, closing out a 10-0 loss. Replacing Moufflet, he gave up 3 runs in 1 2/3 IP. His 14.73 ERA was not the team's highest; both Guillaume Coste and Jean-Baptiste Meunier were higher.
He also was with France for the 1994 Baseball World Cup. No longer their youngest player, he was still their youngest pitcher. He was 0-1 with a 12.46 ERA; Farouk Messagier was higher. He lost to Australia's Fred Lindberg. In France's Division Elite, he played for Cndh de Montpellier.
Fermond later was a bicycle tour guide.
