Biographical Information[edit]
Bus Bergman coached at Colorado Mesa University from 1950 to 1975. He led the school to the NJCAA Baseball World Series each year from 1959 to 1970 and again in 1974. They never won the World Series in those years, but did reach the championship game in 1961, 1964 and 1970. He also coached football at Fort Lewis College before moving on to Colorado Mesa.
In addition to baseball, he played basketball and football while at college. He was offered a contract by NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, but declined so he could serve in the Marines during World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star in Okinawa.
He was also a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies.
