Buffalo Pan Ams

From BR Bullpen

One of the few Buffalo, NY-based baseball teams not to use the name Buffalo Bisons, the Buffalo Pan Ams played one year, 1901, in the Eastern League, finishing last at 45-87. Scoops Carey, Tom Burns, Walt Burnham, Jim Franklin and Joe Franklin all took their turns at the helm. Carey (.316) played first base, led the team in average, hit 8 homers and tied for the EL lead with 37 doubles. OF Reddy Grey hit .307 with an EL-leading 12 homers, splitting his year between Buffalo and the Rochester Hustlers. Buck Hooker (12-25) and Doc Amole (11-25) tied for the league lead in losses. The next season they took the Bisons name back.
