Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Buddy Borden was selected in the 7th round of the 2013 amateur draft out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Jamestown Jammers of the New York-Penn League that year, with a 1.08 ERA in 16 2/3 innings over 6 games. In 2014, he spent the year with the West Virginia Power of the South Atlantic League, going 7-9, 3.16 in 27 games, including 26 starts. He pitched 128 innings, allowing 103 hits and striking out 122.

On December 13, 2014, he was sent to the Tampa Bay Rays as the player to be named later in the trade that brought IF Sean Rodriguez to Pittsburgh on December 1st. he spent the 2015 season with the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League, where he went 9-7, 2.97 in 28 games, including 17 starts. he recorded one shutout and allowed only 104 hits in 127 1/3 innings.
