Bud Holman was a director for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers. He convinced the team to build Dodgertown for their spring training needs in Florida. his son Bump Holman would be the team's pilot later on, when they were the first baseball team to purchase an airplane in the 1950s.

Holman was a millionaire with vast holdings in the state of Florida..
