Biographical Information[edit]
Bryan Marrero has pitched for the Puerto Rican national team.
He was 3-2 as a junior college freshman with 40 K in 38 2/3 IP and 6-4 with a 4.27 ERA as a sophomore. [1] He then finished his college career at Bethune-Cookman. He was 0-1 with a 1.11 ERA for Puerto Rico in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, losing to the Netherlands' Nigel Calmes but doing very well against Mexico. [2]
In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he started one game, facing Curaçao. He began by retiring former major leaguer Andrelton Simmons. Ericson Leonora singled but he recovered to retire the next two, whiffing Dudley Leonora to end the inning. He went five innings, allowing four hits, a walk and two runs (one earned) while fanning four. Iván Houellemont took over with a 2-2 tie in place but Puerto Rico wound up falling. [3] It was then revealed that Marrera had failed a doping test. [4]
