Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Van Gaever has pitched in the First Division and Hoofdklasse and for the Belgian national team.

Van Gaever debuted in the First Division in 2011, going 0 for 2 for the Antwerp Royal Greys. [1] He was 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA in the 2011 European Junior Championship, losing to Italy. [2] In 2012, he was 1-1 with a 7.36 ERA for Antwerp. [3] He was 1-0, 1.35 for Antwerp in 2013. [4] He pitched one scoreless inning in that year's European Junior Championship. [5]

The right-hander did not appear in the 2014 First Division but made the Belgian senior national team that year. He did not get into a game in the 2014 European Championship. [6] In '15, he was 0-1 with a 8.64 ERA for the La Rochelle Admirals in the Collegiate Baseball League Europe. [7] He was with the De Glaskoning Twins in the Netherlands for the 2016 Hoofdklasse but struggled (3 2/3 IP, 10 H, 6 BB, 3 HB, 8 R, 8 ER). Only Floris Timmer had a higher ERA for the team. [8]

He allowed three runs in 1 2/3 IP for Belgium in the 2017 European Championship U23; he did not lead the team in highest ERA as Matthew Joossens and Gregg Mareels were higher. [9] He was 1-1 with a save and a 7.77 ERA for the Brasschaat Braves that summer but led the First Division in relief appearances (14, 2 ahead of Luis Larrinaga). [10] He improved to 1-1, 4.76 for the Braves the next summer despite over a walk per inning.

Brian pitched one game in the 2018 Federations Cup, getting hit hard by the Astros Valencia (3 H, 3 BB, 7 R, 5 ER in 3 IP). [11] In 2019, he did not play.
