Biographical Information[edit]
Brett Scarpetta has pitched in the independent leagues. He is the son of Dennis Scarpetta, nephew of Dan Scarpetta and cousin of Cody Scarpetta.
Brett was taken by the Chicago White Sox in the 18th round of the 2004 amateur draft out of high school and by the Atlanta Braves in the 36th round of the 2005 amateur draft out of junior college. He made his pro debut with the 2008 Southern Illinois Miners, going 9-3 with a 3.81 ERA. He tied for 9th in the Frontier League in wins. He had similar numbers (7-4, 3.86) in 2009. In 2010, he went 8-5 with a 3.60 ERA. He was then traded to the Rockford RiverHawks and posted a 7-6, 5.24 record in 2011. In 2012, he had one save and a 5.14 ERA in four games.
He also was pitching coach of Rock Valley College beginning in 2010.
