Brett Boretti has been a college coach.

Boretti hit .386, slugging .705 and striking out only 13 times with 13 home runs as a college junior, being named the All-Southern Conference catcher. He finished second in the Conference in average. He fell to .326 with 20 doubles and 8 home runs as a senior in '94, but was again All-Conference. While at Davidson, he set school records for hit-by-pitch in a career (25), sacrifice flies and hit-by-pitch in a season (16) while finishing second in doubles and 5th in RBI. He had also played football in college. The Massachusetts native had also played in the Cape Cod League in 1992-1993. Undrafted out of college, he hit .283 and slugged .428 for the 1994 Brainerd Bears. The team won the North Central League title.

Brett then became a coach. He was assistant at Endicott College (1995), Davidson (1996-1998) and Brown University (1998-2000). From 2001-2005, he was head coach of Franklin & Marshall College, going 116-82. His next stop was head coach at Columbia University. In 2008, he led Columbia to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1977, while they won 15 Ivy League games, their most ever. In 2010, they won their most games at the NCAA Division I level (26-21) for their first winning season in 23 years. Also that year, Boretti was inducted into the Davidson Athletics Hall of Fame.
