In the first season of the North Central League in 1994, the Brainerd Bears captured the pennant by beating the Regina Cyclones 3 games to 2 in the finals after a 40-32 record in the regular season. Linc Mikkelsen went 5-2 with a 1.22 ERA to lead the staff. The next season the team started strong, going 12-10, and in second place when the league folded.
