Biographical Information

Pitcher Brent Woodall was drafted in the 17th round of the 1992 Amateur Draft by the Chicago Cubs (471st overall).

Woodall spent his first professional season as a reliever with the 1993 Geneva Cubs in the New York-Pennsylvania League. He compiled a record of 2-1 with a save and a 1.29 earned run average over 35 innings pitched.

In 1994, Woodall pitched for the Midwest League Peoria Chiefs. His record at the end of the season was 0-1 with a 7.78 earned run average over 37 innings. His WHIP ballooned from 1.114 the year before to 1.865 in 1994 as he tried to play through a shoulder injury.

Following his baseball career, Woodall became an equities trader with investment banking firm Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. On September 11, 2001, he was working in the 89th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center when it became the second building hit in the terrorist attacks of the day at 9:03 am. At 9:59 am, the tower collapsed, killing Woodall and dozens of others.
