Biographical Information[edit]
After hitting .296 with 9 home runs and 37 RBI as a junior at the University of Memphis, shortstop Brent Dlugach was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the sixth round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Harold Zonder and made his pro debut that summer with the Oneonta Tigers. With the West Michigan Whitecaps the following year, he hit .283 in 124 games and earned a spot on the Midwest League All-Star team. He spent most of 2006 with the Lakeland Tigers and was fifth in the Florida State League with 6 triples while pacing the circuit with 144 strikeouts. Late that season, he was promoted to the AAA Toledo Mud Hens and was hitless in two games with the team. He was with the AA Erie SeaWolves in 2007, but his year was ended by a shoulder injury in May. Injuries also caused him to miss the majority of the following campaign. He came back with the Mud Hens in 2009, hitting .294 with 9 homers while earning a spot on the International League All-Star squad. He was called up to majors with the Tigers that September and went hitless in 5 big league contests.
Dlugach's father, Michael Dlugach, played in the minor leagues from 1973 to 1976.
