Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Brandon Short played in the minor leagues from 2008 to 2014. He briefly played at Triple-A, but never ascended to the majors.

Short was taken by the Chicago White Sox in the 28th round of the 2008 amateur draft, a couple of picks after outfielder Kevin Mattison and a few ahead of first baseman Nate Freiman; he was signed by scout Joe Siers. He stole 14 bases in 49 games for the Bristol White Sox in his first professional campaign. A couple of years later, in 2010, he had perhaps the best season of his career, batting .316/.365/.491 with 15 home runs, 79 RBI and 77 runs scored in 116 games for the Winston-Salem Dash. That year, he was a Carolina League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star, as well as a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. Going into 2011, Baseball America ranked him the #8 prospect in the White Sox system, between pitcher Jake Petricka and outfielder Trayce Thompson. He had 13 home runs and 21 stolen bases for the Birmingham Barons in 2011, earning a spot in the fairly exclusive Arizona Fall League. He was a Southern League Post-Season All-Star that year. Between 2012 and 2013, he played 32 games at Triple-A, hitting .194/.285/.272 at that level.

Overall, Short hit .267/.329/.403 with 42 home runs, 282 RBI and 62 stolen bases in 569 games over seven seasons.
