Biographical Information[edit]
Edward "Bobby" Rothermel played 17 seasons in pro ball, coming to the majors briefly in 1899 under manager John McGraw. Second base was a problem for McGraw that year, as John O'Brien hit under .200 and Rothermel hit under .100. The team acquired Gene DeMontreville in August (after having traded him away in January), but DeMontreville's batting average with the team was lower than the other regulars.
He is not to be confused with a player of a similar name, Bob Rothel.
