Biographical Information[edit]
John O'Brien played six years in the major leagues, almost always as a second baseman. Although he was born in New Brunswick, Canada and died in Lewiston, ME, he also played ball in San Francisco, Oakland and Portland, as well as various places in the East.
His nickname was "chewing gum" as he was an early ballplayer to chew the stuff.
He is in both the New Brunswick and the Maine Sports Halls of Fame.
