Biographical Information[edit]
Bobby Lewis coached college baseball for over 35 years.
Lewis played baseball at Pitt, lettering in 1949-1951. He then served in the Marines. While working on a master's degree at Pitt, he was named acting coach in 1955 in place of the ailing Ralph Mitterling. Lewis stayed as head coach through 1990. He went 438-389, setting a school record for wins, later broken by Joe Jordano. He coached Doc Medich, Ken Macha and Mike Ditka among others.
