Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Bobby Greene played for the Alexandria Aces (1948-1949, 1950) and Monroe Sports (1951). With the Aces his first year, he hit .299/.417/.461 with 13 triples, 74 walks and 65 strikeouts in 106 games. 1948 was a breakout year, as he hit .361/.461/.516 with 193 hits, 106 runs, 37 doubles, 11 triples, 99 walks and 58 strikeouts in 136 games; he led the Evangeline League in hits and doubles and was tied with Septine Baron for second in triples, behind Mel Clark's 22. After missing 1949, he returned to hit .274 with 15 home runs in 110 games in 1950. He wrapped up his career by hitting .330/.476/.438 with 116 walks to just 40 strikeouts in 121 games for Monroe in 1951. He led the Cotton States League in on-base percentage.

Overall, Greene hit .320 with a .473 slugging percentage in 473 games over four seasons. He had 550 hits, including 115 doubles, 36 triples and 25 home runs.
