Biographical Information

Bob Stinson was a backup catcher who was picked by the expansion Seattle Mariners and became a regular catcher for them for a few years. He went from being a backup for a top Kansas City Royals team in 1976 to being a regular on a last place team in 1977.

Stinson was taken in the secondary phase of the 1966 amateur draft, and tried to get a spot on the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1969 and 1970. At the time, Tom Haller and Jeff Torborg were the established catchers, and Joe Ferguson was the up-and-coming young stud. Stinson became a journeyman until finding a home in his 30s with the Mariners from 1977 to 1980.

As of 2002, Stinson worked for Boeing.
